OLD HICKORY, TN. — Trevecca Nazarene University captured the team title at the 2026 Trevecca Music City Invitational after two days of competitive golf Tuesday at the General’s Retreat course at Hermitage Golf Course.
Trevecca’s A team finished at 4-under par for the tournament to hold off a deep field of 16 teams and 87 golfers. The win was built on a steady opening 36 holes Monday and a resilient final round on the par-70 layout (about 6,600 yards) that played a touch tougher than in previous years.
The invitational, which drew programs from across the Gulf South Conference, Great Midwest Athletic Conference and the region, featured seven individual competitors representing seven different schools and saw Trevecca enter two full teams plus an individual. Six Tennessee schools were in the field, including Trevecca’s second entry and nearby programs such as Union (TN) and Spring Hill College. The Hermitage course — a Gary Roger Baird design that hosted the LPGA Sara Lee Classic from 1988–1999 — provided a scenic but demanding test along the Cumberland River.
Team competition came down to steady scoring and a strong closing effort from the Trevecca squad. The Trojans’ lineup combined low rounds and course management over the 54-hole event to finish atop the leader board. Union (TN) finished second overall at even par, while Shorter placed third at 1-over.
Individually, the tournament produced a tightly packed leaderboard. Hillsdale’s Oliver Marshall finished first at 6-under with Trevecca’s Alex Hamm sharing second position with Union’s Trace Robinson at 5-under par, all turning in consistent performances across the three rounds. Trevecca players also populated the top-10 individually: Trevecca’s Maddox Burton and Lucas Barrett finished at 1-under and that helped the Trojans secure the team championship.
Trevecca’s depth was evident: both the A and B teams posted solid rounds across all three days. The Trevecca B team finished further down the standings but contributed key scoring that underscored the program’s overall strength and depth heading into the rest of the spring season.
Conference representation was broad. The Gulf South Conference provided six teams, including Trevecca’s second entry and Spring Hill (an associate member moving to full membership), while two teams came from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, Trevecca’s former NCAA Division II league. Programs from as far afield as Hillsdale, IUP, and Carson-Newman also competed, making for a extremely competitive field.
With the Music City Invitational now in the books, Trevecca will take momentum from the victory and the depth shown across both rosters into the remainder of the season. The program’s performance at Hermitage sends an early message that Trevecca is a contender in spring tournaments and conference play.
