Maury County

Maury County, Tennessee was established in November 1807 (formed from parts of Williamson County), and the county’s early growth was shaped by its strong agricultural economy and the developing community around the city of Columbia. Columbia itself was founded in 1807 and incorporated in 1817, helping turn Maury County into a regional hub over the 1800s.

Sports in Maury are tied most strongly to local high school athletics—especially Columbia Central High School, whose teams compete in a wide range of sports under the Lions/Lady Lions name.
