Black’s Walk-Off Double Lifts Sounds Past Bats in 3-2 Thriller

NASHVILLE, TN - Tyler Black’s heroics in the bottom of the ninth inning capped a dramatic late-game rally, giving the Nashville Sounds a 3-2 walk-off victory over the Louisville Bats on Tuesday night at First Horizon Park.

For most of the evening, pitching dominated the narrative. Louisville starter Chase Solesky set the tone early with a dominant performance, tossing four perfect innings without allowing a single base runner. Reliever Kevin Abel continued the perfect game bid until two outs in the bottom of the sixth, when Eduardo Garcia broke the spell by drawing a walk. Garcia immediately stole second and scored on an RBI single to put Nashville ahead 1-0.

Nashville starter Thomas Pannone matched Solesky's resilience. Despite surrendering five hits and two walks, Pannone repeatedly escaped trouble, leaving six Louisville runners stranded over four scoreless innings. Lion Richardson and Brett Wichrowski provided solid middle relief, holding the Bats at bay through seven innings.

Louisville finally answered in the top of the eighth inning against Harrison Garavito. Following an infield single, Leo Balcazar launched a two-run homer to left-center field, flipping the lead to 2-1 in favor of the Bats.

The Sounds pressured Louisville reliever Zach Maxwell in the bottom of the eighth but stranded two runners.

In the bottom of the ninth, Brock Wilkin sparked the winning rally with a lead-off single and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Blake Burke followed with a walk. With two runners on, Louisville brought in left-hander Anthony Misiewicz.Pinch-runner Jacob Hurtubise entered for Burke, and both runners moved into scoring position on a groundout.

With two outs, Tyler Black stepped to the plate and delivered a line drive to deep right-center field. Carlos Jorge made a desperate, diving effort, but the ball fell just out of reach, allowing Wilkin and Hurtubise to score the tying and winning runs.
