DURHAM, NC - In a thrilling showcase at Cameron Indoor Stadium, the Duke Blue Devils demonstrated resilience in a 97-73 victory against Lipscomb, marking Jon Scheyer's milestone 100th win as head coach. Down by 10 points early, Duke rallied back with standout performances from Cameron Boozer, who recorded 26 points and 13 rebounds, and Isaiah Evans, who contributed 16 points and drilled four three-pointers.
The game was a testament to Duke's depth, featuring solid contributions from bench players Maliq Brown and Darren Harris, each adding 11 points. Despite struggling with turnovers—22 in total—Duke's offensive firepower shone through, outpacing Lipscomb in crucial moments.
Lipscomb’s strong start, highlighted by Grant Asman’s 18 points, kept the game competitive, yet they faltered in the second half, particularly from beyond the arc, shooting just 23.1% on three-pointers after the break. Duke’s relentless drive and ability to capitalize in the paint ultimately secured the win.
The victory not only preserves Duke's perfect start to the season at 11-0 but also cements Scheyer's legacy as a rapidly rising coach in the ACC. Lipscomb's record of 6-5 does not reflect the competition they have faced and contended with early in the season. There battles with college heavyweights however with prove worthwhile once they start conference play.
