NASHVILLE, TN - Fisk University learned Monday who their opponent will be as they continue a highly successful season. The Lady Bulldogs will travel to Corban University in Oregon for an NAIA opening-round match on Saturday, November 22 at 2:00 p.m. CT in the Women’s Volleyball Championship.

The selection party on Fisk’s Nashville campus was equal parts celebration and focus. Fisk (29-7, 10-0) punched its ticket after an unbeaten conference slate and a season highlighted by stout defense and balanced offense. Fresh off a 3-2 win over Paul Quinn and a narrow 3-2 loss to Dillard in recent action, the Lady Bulldogs know the margin for error in postseason play is slim.

Awaiting them in Oregon is Corban (24-5, 17-3), a well-rounded opponent that posts stronger attack and assist numbers. The Warriors also distribute the ball efficiently while limiting reception mistakes which will make them a strong test for the Bulldogs. Defensively Corban has a physical, disciplined front with strong net play.

Fisk coaches emphasized serve-receive, serving pressure and transition offense as keys to a good match. The opening round on Nov. 22 begins a national chase that culminates with pool play at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City in early December. All opening-round matches are streamed free on the NAIA Channel of the Urban Edge Network, and final-site pool assignments will be announced Sunday, Nov. 23.
