NASHVILLE, Tenn. — 10/22/25 Fisk University continued its impressive volleyball season by defeating Tennessee Southern in a hard-fought match at the Henderson Johnson Arena. The final score was 3-0 in favor of Fisk, with set scores of 25-21, 25-15, and 25-18.


The match drew a decent crowd who witnessed both teams battle fiercely from the start. The first set saw a back-and-forth contest, with Fisk pulling ahead in the final moments to claim the set 25-21. Tennessee Southern showed resilience in the second set, but Fisk quickly took control, establishing a commanding 15-9 lead before closing out the set 25-15.


The third set was a showcase of determination from both sides. Tennessee Southern came out strong, racing to an early lead. However, Fisk matched their energy, tying the score at 6-6 and keeping the momentum balanced through 10-10. Fisk then surged ahead to 16-11, forcing Tennessee Southern to call a timeout. Despite a spirited comeback to close the gap to 24-18, Fisk called a timeout and swiftly finished the match with a final 25-18 win.


Fisk’s victory improves their record to an outstanding 23-6 overall and a perfect 8-0 in conference play, solidifying their status as a top contender this season.


Two standout performers for Fisk were Shelby Chamblin and Reagan Jones. Chamblin delivered an impressive 14 kills with a .409 hitting percentage, while Jones contributed 9 points and several key serves that helped maintain Fisk’s momentum throughout the match.


For Tennessee Southern, Ashlee Kraft and Emma Beardsley led the charge. Beardsley contributed 12 points with a .182 hitting percentage, while Kraft added 6 points despite some hitting struggles. Tennessee Southern ends the match at 10-7 on the season.


Fisk will next take the court against Wilberforce at Johnson Gym on Friday at 6 p.m., looking to extend their winning streak in conference play.


The match highlighted Fisk’s skillful play and teamwork, with strong serving and blocking that kept Tennessee Southern on the defensive. As Fisk continues their push toward the postseason, their display of consistency and grit will be key to their success.
