21 Straight Wins. Zero Conference Sets Dropped. The Quest for Gold Begins in Shreveport

NASHVILLE, TN - The Fisk University women’s volleyball team capped an extraordinary regular season in dominant fashion Friday night, sweeping Talladega College 3-0 at Henderson A. Johnson Arena on Senior Night.

With the victory, the Lady Bulldogs finished undefeated throughout September and October, stretching their program-record winning streak to 21 consecutive matches. Even more impressive, Fisk completed an unblemished conference schedule without dropping a single set, securing their second straight East Division title.

As the team prepares for next week’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Championship tournament in Shreveport, Louisiana, head coach Jessica Enderle praised her squad's poise and focus.

"It's always nice to come out with a win on Senior Night," Enderle said after the match. "It’s also great to finish our conference season as the only undefeated team in the conference who hasn't dropped a set. You can attribute a lot to the focus this team has had throughout the year and just how much they have pushed."

Fisk enters the postseason as the overwhelming championship favorite, powered by a battle-tested core of upperclassmen alongside a talented crop of underclassmen.

For four-year senior middle blocker La'Niyah Lumpkin—the longest-tenured player on the roster—the milestone night carried deep personal meaning.

"To see the growth of the four years, it makes me emotional at times because little me did not think that big me would be here," Lumpkin reflected. "We weren't used to winning our games back-to-back like this; we always fell short. But this year, communication-wise and personality-wise, we all click. When we go down to Shreveport, I confidently will say that I fully believe in my team."

Senior libero Trinity Stevenson echoed that sentiment, emphasizing the team's mental preparation as they eye both the conference tournament and a deep run in the upcoming NAIA National Tournament.

"We've all put in a lot of work in practice, and to execute that in the game is a blessing," Stevenson said. "We're very prepared and very excited. This is something we've been waiting on and working towards all season."

While Enderle cautioned against looking past their opening-round cross-divisional matchup in Shreveport, she expressed immense pride in how her team has elevated the program's standard.

"The big, exciting moment is about to be here," Enderle said. "I think everything's pointing in a very good direction. I'm proud of what they've accomplished so far, and I can't wait to see what they do next week."
