NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Lipscomb Bisons showcased their depth and balance in a commanding 105–46 victory over the Sewanee Tigers at Allen Arena on Thursday afternoon. The exhibition not only highlighted the team’s offensive firepower but also showed their resilience after a tough road loss to Indiana earlier this week.

From the opening whistle, Lipscomb set the tone, building an early lead and never looking back. Taylor Bowen paced the Bisons with 18 points, scoring efficiently while contributing on the defensive end. Molly Heard added 17 points, underscoring Lipscomb’s multiple scoring options. The team shot a highly efficient 50.7 percent from the field — a marked improvement and a sign of focused offensive execution.

The win was particularly encouraging coming off a 80–46 loss at Indiana, a game that exposed areas for improvement. Rather than dwelling on that setback, the Bisons used it as motivation. Head coach Lauren Sumski emphasized the learning curve, saying, “Every game is an opportunity to grow. Our game against Indiana taught us valuable lessons that we carried into this match against Sewanee.”

Defensively, Lipscomb was dominant, forcing 27 turnovers and converting many of those into transition points. That defensive intensity — active hands, quick rotations and consistent pressure — helped the Bisons control the tempo and run their offense in transition.

The exhibition also allowed younger players to gain meaningful minutes. The bench contributed nicely, with Elena Bertrand and Hope Counts providing energy, defensive disruption and timely scoring to expand the team’s rotation. That mix of veteran leaders and emerging talent should serve Lipscomb well as they prepare for ASUN Conference play.

Looking ahead, the contrast between the Indiana defeat and the decisive win over Sewanee illustrates Lipscomb’s ability to respond and improve quickly. With balanced scoring, stingy defense and developing depth, the Bisons appear poised for a competitive season. Fans have reason to be excited as the team continues to refine its identity heading into conference play.
