Nashville Sounds Keep Rolling with 14–6 Rout of Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, TN (Aug. 25) — The Nashville Sounds extended their surge to four straight wins Tuesday night, cruising to a 14–6 victory over the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp in the opening game of a six-game series at VyStar Ballpark.

Tyler Black delivered the defining performance, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and finishing one hit shy of the cycle. His night helped fuel an offense that exploded early, as Nashville built a commanding 14–0 lead and ultimately collected 16 hits, including three home runs and eight extra-base hits.

Nashville wasted little time striking. Akil Baddoo opened the scoring with a solo home run in the second inning off Jacksonville starter Brandon White. The Sounds then exploded in the third, plating six runs—including RBI triples by Luke Adams and Black—to push the advantage to 14–0. Nashville’s momentum continued into the fifth and sixth innings, with Black adding to the damage and the lineup sending nearly everyone to the plate.

In the fifth, Black drove in another run with a RBI double, scoring Baddoo after the outfielder drew a leadoff walk. The offense kept piling on in the sixth when Nashville sent all nine hitters to the plate. Blake Burke’s double drove in a pair to make it 10–0, and Baddoo followed with his third RBI of the night on a sacrifice fly. Brock Wilken then capped a five-run frame with his team-leading 14th home run, stretching the lead to 13–0.

Jacksonville finally dented the shutout in the eighth as position player Gage Miller took the mound, but Nashville responded with Black’s solo home run to make it 14–0. A rough defensive moment later helped spark the Jumbo Shrimp rally, including a grand slam by Etzel that brought the score to 14–6.

On the mound, left-hander Colton Gordon earned the win with five scoreless innings, allowing four hits while striking out four. The bullpen bridged the gap with scoreless relief before Jacksonville’s late charge.

The Sounds continue their road trip with game two against Jacksonville on Wednesday night, first pitch scheduled for 6:05 p.m. RHP Coleman Crow (8–1, 3.13 ERA) is slated to start for Nashville.
