Strong Pitching Keeps Sounds Win Streak Rolling

NASHVILLE, TN — The Nashville Sounds kept their hot streak alive Saturday night, extending their season-long run to five straight games with a 2-1 victory over Worcester at First Horizon Park.

Easton McGee delivered a key bullpen-game start, tossing three scoreless innings overall after beginning his outing with early trouble. Jett Williams provided the lift at the plate, launching a leadoff home run in the bottom of the first and later adding another hit as Nashville collected five total hits and pulled out a narrow win.

Worcester struck a balance to match the Sounds’ momentum. After McGee turned in an inning that included an inning-ending double play to limit damage in the top of the first, Worcester tied the game in the second. The WooSox scored on multiple hits, highlighted by an RBI fly ball single that dropped into right field after Jacob Hurtubise lost it in the air.

Kaleb Bowman entered in the fourth and helped keep the score level at 1-1. Despite issuing a couple of walks, Bowman responded with two strikeouts in his only inning of work, preserving a tight game.

The deciding margin came late. Eddys Leonard delivered the key extra-base hit with his team-leading sixth double in the sixth, setting the stage for Ethan Murray’s opposite-field sacrifice fly that gave Nashville a 2-1 edge. From there, the Sounds’ pitching took control, as Blake Holub and Will Childers each followed with calm, scoreless relief innings.

Childers worked the eighth and pushed his streak without an earned run allowed to eight innings, while also keeping Worcester from stringing together rallies late. Leonard added a hit to lead off the eighth, but Nashville could not turn momentum into more runs, and the Sounds held firm.

The teams meet again Sunday to wrap up their first-ever series. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m., with left-hander Shane Drohan (1-0, 3.12 ERA) set to start for Nashville.
