In a ReliaQuest Bowl matchup on December 31, 2025, the Iowa Hawkeyes defeated the Vanderbilt Commodores 34-27. Despite a strong effort from Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia, who accounted for 383 total yards and three touchdowns, the Commodores couldn't overcome Iowa's early lead. Iowa's quarterback, Mark Gronowski, earned MVP honors, throwing for 212 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Hawkeyes' defense also proved to be a major factor, sacking Pavia four times and limiting Vanderbilt's rushing attack.
Vanderbilt showed strength in the second half, outscoring Iowa, but ultimately fell short. Tre Richardson had a standout performance for the Commodores, with 6 catches for 127 yards and a 75-yard touchdown, the longest bowl game reception in Vanderbilt history. Despite the loss, Vanderbilt finished the season with a 10-3 record, marking their most successful year in program history.
